Principal

Craig Murison was the Founding Principal of Mackay Christian College in 1984 when the school started with 17 students in Years 1 to 7. After 27 years as Principal of the College it now has an enrolment of 1000 students from Preparatory to Year 12. The school boasts an excellent record in student achievement with almost 100% of students applying for a university place succeeding, and many others successfully completing school based apprenticeships, TAFE courses, or securing good work positions. During his time at Mackay Christian College, Craig has maintained a focus on creating a true learning community where students and staff are encouraged to ‘become all God wants them to be.’ It is his passion to see students develop the strong resilience needed to be successful and happy in life. Craig endeavours to create community and capacity through his leadership style. He believes it’s important to constantly challenge himself to be a lifelong learner. Mackay Christian College has grown to be the largest Queensland Independent School outside the South East Corner under Pastor Craig’s leadership, and he has also served as a Pastor in the Mackay Christian Family Church. Craig is married to Candace, has two children, enjoys playing the saxophone and building and flying model aeroplanes.

   
Deputy Principal Mrs Lesley Tunnah BEducation, DipTeaching, Dip Professional Counselling, Dip Christian Education, JP(Qualified)
Lesley has been teaching at Mackay Christian College since 1995. Her passion for Science saw her teaching Senior Biology, Physics and Chemistry as well as coordinating the Year 8 – 12 Science department for many years when she started at Mackay Christian College. In 1998, Lesley took on the role of Secondary Coordinator which transitioned to Director of Secondary as the College grew in population. In 2010 she became the first Deputy Principal of MCC. Lesley is responsible for the design and implementation of some of the Mackay Christian College policies and procedures, she initiated the House Family structure and is involved in helping teachers grow professionally through IshareIT workshops. Lesley loves adventuring and demonstrates it through travel, canoeing, gardening and landscaping, photography, worship leading and singing and being an announcer on 4CRM Community Radio. In 2010 Lesley and her husband, Alun, travelled to China where they participated in the Great Wall Marathon to raise money for the Mackay Chaplaincy Committee. They raised a total of $3,400. Lesley has been married to Alun, the great love of her life, since 1980. They have two children, Adam who is married to Kristie and has a son Daniel, and Kathlin, a pharmacist, who also enjoys adventures and travel. Both her children have a great relationship with Jesus Christ and share their faith with others.

   
Head of Teaching & Learning Mrs Robyn Hair BNurs (Mid), GradDipEd (Primary) Currently Completing MEd
Robyn and her husband started their teaching journey at Mackay Christian College in 2006. She is passionate about helping people see the potential within themselves. She works hard to improve teaching and learning at MCC and loves building relationships with young people and working with them while they work towards reaching their utmost for God and achieving their dreams and aspirations. Robyn is married to Murray and they have three boys Tim, Andrew and Daniel. She enjoys quilting, patchwork, scrapbooking, reading and spending time with her family.

   
Head of Senior School Pastor Peter Lister BEd, BA (Biblical Studies), Cert IV Pastoral Leadership
In 1998, Peter and his wife Priscilla responded to a strong call from God to join Mackay Christian College after a University teaching practicum. With a firm commitment to teaching as a ministry, Peter has assisted the College in a variety of teaching and leadership roles such as Head of Senior School, Year 12 Coordinator and as the College Chaplain. He is passionate about equipping Christians to be spiritually fit disciple-makers who are able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a variety of cross-cultural contexts. Each year Peter leads outreach teams to a variety of locations including the Torres Strait, Cape York and Africa.

   
Head of Middle School Mr Alun Tunnah BEd, Dip T
Alun has been sharing his passion for Science with students and fellow teachers for over 30 years both in Australia and overseas. He sees his role as Head of Middle School as helping students to grow and develop academically, spiritually, emotionally, socially and physically in collaboration with parents and teachers. He is committed to embedding our CLEAR values into all areas of College life by leading from the front. Alun is married to Lesley and they have two grown children. He is an adventurer, and enjoys canoeing and multisport racing. He has completed several James Grant Memorial races, the Quoll (a 15hr, 100km adventure rogaine), and the Gold Coast Marathon in 2009. In 2010 he ran the Great Wall Marathon in China to raise awareness and money for Mackay Chaplaincy.

   
Head of Junior School Mrs Alison Bannister BEd, DipTeach, Grad Dip Ed, MEd
Alison started her journey with Mackay Christian College in 2011. Although she is new to the Queensland Education system she has been involved in Christian Education in New South Wales for over 25 years. With the move to the new Junior School Campus (Providence), Alison and is looking forward to continuing to build and grow the Junior School at Mackay Christian College. Alison enjoys spending time with her 4 children and 5 grandchildren and when time permits, she enjoys running on the beach.
